Current Research

My current project (click for an abstract) looks at civil rights advocacy organizations working to confront Islamophobia in the United States. I am presently conducting research on this topic with support from the National Science Foundation, the Center for New Racial Studies, and the Richard Flacks Fund for Democracy.

Teaching

Currently, I am giving a course on Social Movements at UCSB.

After working as a teaching assistant for several years, I have served as an instructor at the University of California since 2006. Courses I’ve taught include Introduction to Sociology, Interethnic Relations, and my current course on Social Movements.

Previous Work

In 2006, I wrote a thesis on advocacy work in the Middle Eastern, Arab American, and Muslim American communities in Detroit.

In 2001, I completed my undergraduate honors thesis on Zionism and changing gender roles in Israel.

In 2000, I wrote a term paper on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict after spending a semester abroad in the region. I also maintained a webpage with information on that subject.
