Striking UC Workers Send Response To Erik's Call

-- UCSB, California

"What do we want?...  When do we want it?..."  "The people, united..."  "UC workers under attack!  What do we do?..." shouted Erik, over and over and over again on Thursday.  Several hundred striking University of California employees shouted back: "Justice!  Now!" and the occasional "Stand Up Fight Back!"

When asked about Erik's notable contribution to a noontime rally held at the university, several members of the striking ASFKYRGISTANCME union noted that "Erik didn't really say all that much" and "Frankly, I don't know who you're talking about, but I need a raise."  Initial reports suggested that Erik did a lot of shouting, whistling and marching, but failed to bring the university to its knees.

The Santa Barbara News-Press featured an article about the strike in which Erik was quoted as saying that the strike affected students "across the campus," but that newspaper is not even close to as well-known and influential as ENN.

"Now that Erik has added his voice to the shout," said one union official, "We expect that the University will continue to ignore our very reasonable demands for above-poverty living wages, a decent sick-leave policy, and better working conditions."

"But," Erik added, "There's always room for hope.  After all," he continued, into a nearby megaphone, "The people, united, will never be defeated!"
